Golden Can
How to get it: Keep perfect environment for 16 days in a row then Pelly will give it to you.
Special Property: It will turn dying BLACK ROSES into Golden roses (which never wither).
Golden Rod
How to get it: Catch every fish in the game (check the little fish symbol at the top of your Suitcase to see which ones you’ve caught)
Special Property: It’s more attractive to fish, apart from that I haven’t noticed anything
Golden Shovel
How to get it: Bury a regular Shovel in the ground for 24 hours, then dig it up again. You’ll need two shovels.
Special Property: If you bury a moneybag in the ground like a fruit, a tree will grow and it might sprout money. The amount you bury matters, 1.000 bells has a 1% chance of growing and bearing money, 50.000 has a 50% chance and so on. It’s not worth burying anything over 90.000 bells as each of the three moneybags will only be 30.000 each. Oh, and the money only grows once. Shake it down and the tree will become a normal, non-fruit tree and give you bees and furniture etc like regular trees.
Golden Net
How to get it: Just like the Golden Rod, catch every bug in the game. You can check the little butterfly symbol at the top of your Items Suitcase to see how many you got.
Special Property: It’s a heck of a lot bigger than the normal net. Well worth duplicating if anyone you know has it (see the duplicating cheat)
Golden Slingshot
How to get it: Shoot down 16 presents total from the sky. The 16th will be the slingshot.
Special Property: Shoots 3 little stones in a spread pattern, making it easier to get presents.
Golden Axe
How to get it: This is a pain. First, you need a red turnip from Joan. If she won’t sell you one, it’s because you time-travelled since last Sunday. Once you have that, you need to wait for Wendell to visit your town. When he asks for food, give the turnip (already you have to grow it a bit) and he will give you a TURBAN, a very special hat. When Saharah visits your town, give her the turban and she will either give you a RED VASE (I’ll come back to that) or a MASSAGE CHAIR. If she gives you the chair, give it to Tortimer (not Cornimer) and he’ll give you the Scallop shell. Give this to Pascal and he’ll give you a choice of Golden, Silver, or none. Choose Gold for the Golden Axe, and none to get Pascal’s Pic. If you choose Silver, he’ll tell you you’re lying.
Tom Nook’s Pic.
If Saharah gives you the RED VASE, don’t despair. Instead, give to Redd, in return for a SAFE (this can be bought from the catalogue.) Then go to Tom Nook. He will start coming onto you, saying what a lovely safe you have. He will trade it to you for his pic, which is really rare.
Duplicating Glitch
This is a tried and tested glitch for duplicating items – such as shirts, pieces of furniture, accessories or moneybags. It has made me very rich, I currently have 200.000.000 bells and counting. The only catch is that you need someone to link with. It works in stages like this:
1. The Host opens their town gate.
2. The Guest travels to the Host’s town carrying items which you want to duplicate.
3. The Host presses START and chooses Save&Continue.
4. The Guest then drops the items on the ground.
5. The Host picks them up and checks that he/she has all the items.
6. The Host presses START and chooses Save&Continue.
THIS IS THE IMPORTANT BIT
7. Watch the little swirly circle thing. Between the 6½ and 7th turn of the little line, the Guest should switch off the DS. You won’t get the mole with this cheat. Honest.
8. Wake up both the characters in the DSs. They should both have the items.
This cheat will save you a lot of time, money, and effort trying to get items that you already have but can’t get from the catalogue.
